Cooling Center Opens In Riverhead As Temps Spike
The cooling center will be open through Wednesday, Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar says.

RIVERHEAD, NY — With a heat warning issued for Long Island and temperatures expected to feel as though they've spiked to more than 100 degrees, Riverhead Town has opened a cooling center.
Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar said the Riverhead Senior Center, located at 60 Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue, will open as a cooling center Monday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"This will be a place our seniors may go if they need to take a break, relax and cool off," said Aguiar.
