First Ever Pickleball Tournament On Long Island To Take Place This Sunday
The tournament will take place on the tennis courts at Stotsky Park in Riverhead.

The Riverhead Recreation Department announces that the first ever Pickleball Tournament on Long Island will take place on the tennis courts at Stotzky Park in Riverhead this Saturday, Oct. 11 with the first serve set for 10 a.m.

The first tournament, open to both men and women 50 and up, contains three divisions: Men’s, Women’s and Mixed.
A total of 42 players will compete for the first ever “Pickleball Crown”. The winner of each division will receive first place trophies with each runner up receiving a jar of pickles.

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport among men and women ages 50 and up. The sport is a cross between Tennis and Ping-Pong. The Riverhead Recreation Department began offering Pickleball in 2012 and has expanded the program several times to accommodate the growing participants.
The rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m.
