Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island
BREAKING: Damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours possible Tuesday. A tornado also can't be ruled out.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island, warning that thunderstorms on Tuesday could produce damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours.
The greatest chance of severe weather will be from about 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., but the chance of thunderstorms will continue through late Tuesday night.
There is a "lower potential" for tornadoes as well, the NWS says.

"The greatest chance of a tornado extends from part of the Hudson Valley to the Connecticut River Valley," according to AccuWeather Storm Warning Meteorologist Alex Avalos.
Long Island did get hit with a small tornado last week. A home on the North Fork also burned to the ground on the same day after being struck by lightning.

Here's the full forecast:
Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 11am and 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Heat index values as high as 98. Light west wind becoming southwest 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind 13 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind around 13 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 89.
