Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

The Mother's Day weekend forecast is looking a bit dicey. Sorry, moms.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island. Thunderstorms on Saturday could produce localized flooding.

Showers will move in from west to east late Friday and it will likely be raining across the island by daybreak Saturday.

Mother's Day on Sunday looks slightly nicer. There will be a chance of showers all day, but it will be a few degrees warmer and we should avoid any thunderstorms.

Friday Night- A 50 percent chance of showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday- Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 56. East wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night- Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between midnight and 3am, then a chance of showers after 3am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 50. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday- A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 59. Northeast wind around 10 mph.

Sunday Night- A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Monday- A 30 percent chance of showers before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 63.

Monday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.

Tuesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
