Heat Index Already Over 100 Degrees as Long Island Bakes
This heat is no joke. It can quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke. Be safe and stay cool this weekend.
An excessive heat warning is now in effect for Long Island until 8 p.m. Sunday. High temperatures will be in the mid-90s on Saturday and Sunday, but with the humidity factored in, it will feel more like 106-107 degrees.
At 9:56 a.m. Saturday, the temperature at Long Island MacArthur Airport was already up to 90 degrees with a heat index of 101 degrees.
