Man Airlifted After Wading River Crash That Injures 3

The head-on crash took place on Sound Avenue.

WADING RIVER, NY- A Riverhead man was airlifted after a head-on crash in Wading River Saturday that left three injured, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the accident took place at 11:32 a.m. on Sound Avenue when Thomas Jaeger, 55, who was driving aa 2003 Ford Escape eastbound, crossed over the double yellow line and collided head-on with a westbound 2014 Nissan Sentra being operated by Gail Brunner, 44, of Baiting Hollow.

Her daughter, 16, was a front seat passenger in the vehicle, police said.

Wading River Fire Department responded and extricated Jaeger from his vehicle. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police Department Aviation Unit with serious injuries, police said.

Brunner and her daughter were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Wading River Fire Department for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The New York State Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and are assisting the Riverhead Police Department Detective Division with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses to the accident are asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.

No charges were filed in the accident, police said.
