Man Busted for Driving Drunk in Hampton Bays: Police

New York State Police arrest reports through January 24, 2016.

All of the following information was supplied by the New York State Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

  • A Hampton Bays man was busted for driving drunk on Sunday, January 24, police said. According to New York State Police, Juan R. Benitez Vasquez, 29, was arrested and charged with DWI following a traffic stop. Benitez Vasquez was heading west on County Road 39 north of New York State Route 27 when he was stopped, police said. An investigation and standardized tests revealed Benitez Vasquez to be intoxicated, police said. He is slated to return to Southampton Town Justice Court on February 3 at 9 a.m.
  • A Center Moriches woman, 25, was arrested on January 20 in Flanders following a traffic stop on Lake Avenue, New York State Police said. She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, as well as possession of a controlled substance not in the original container, police said. She was issued appearance tickets and told to return to Southampton Town Justice Court on February 17, police said.
