Man Charged With Felony DWI In Hampton Bays: Police

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated early Saturday, police said.

Southampton Town Police said Jose Fernandez Chuqui, 26, of Hamptons Bays, was seen driving erratically on Montauk Highway and Springville Road in Hampton Bays. After a traffic stop, he was arrested and charged with DWI, prior conviction within 10 years, a felony, and traffic infractions including moving from lane unsafely, driving too slowly, driving to the left of pavement markings, and operating a motor vehicle without an inspection, police said.

Chuqui was held overnight at Southampton Town Police headquarters for morning arraignment, police said.
