Man With Handgun Nabbed At Laundromat On New Year's Day: Police
A man was arrested and charged after he was found with a handgun at a Riverhead laundry, police said.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was arrested and charged after he was found with a handgun at a Riverhead laundry, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 3:10 p.m. when a report came in about a disturbance involving a man armed with a handgun at a laundromat on Old Riverhead Road.
Police located Alfredo Mendoza-Garcia and recovered the handgun without incident, authorities said.

Mendoza-Garcia was arrested and charged with one count each of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon; criminal possession of a firearm; third-degree criminal sale of a firearm; and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
