Man Robbed, Hit In Face With Baseball Bat: Police
He was hit in the face with a metal baseball bat before three men stole his wallet, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY —A man was hit in the face with a metal baseball bat and robbed of his wallet in Riverhead Friday, police said.
According to Riverhead Police, at 9:07 p.m., the robbery was reported in the area of Railroad Ave. between Griffing Ave. and Roanoke Ave.
A man said that he while walking to his nearby home he was approached by three males, one of whom struck him in the face with a metal baseball bat, knocking him to the ground; his wallet, which contained money personal papers, was stolen by the trio, police said.

The three then fled on foot, heading west on Railroad Ave. before getting into a gray, four-door sedan and heading south on Griffing Ave. toward West Main St., police said.
Police searched for the vehicle and the three males, but they have not been found yet, authorities said.

The man was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
