Mattituck Rain Garden to Have Official Presentation

The Bay Avenue rain garden in the Town of Southold Mattituck Park District will have its official presentation with a ribbon cutting on June 23 at 10 a.m.

Area officials including Highway Superintendent Vincent Orlando, Jeff Standish the Head of Public Works, Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell, John Bredemeyer Head of the Southold Town Trustees and Suffolk County Legislator Al Krupski have been invited.

The rain garden, planted with native plants, was installed last autumn. It helps filter out pollutants coming from municipal property to the James Creek in Mattituck. It was installed through a working partnership between the Suffolk County Soil and Water Conservation District, Town of Southold, and Mattituck Park District.
