Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for Wednesday

Eastern parts of town to be sprayed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Suffolk County Department of Public Works will be spraying for mosquitos in several parts of town Wednesday morning, officials announced.

Methoprene will be applied by a low-flying helicopter from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the following areas: 

  • Indian Island
  • Credcent Duck Farm
  • Aquebogue Farm
  • Millar Farm
  • Pier Avenue
  • Iron Point (Flanders)
Correction: There will be no spraying at Union Avenue and Overlook on Wednesday.

According to the county, no preparation is necessary for the spraying, and "the products involved have no significant human toxicity."

Should spraying be delayed due to inclement weather, it will take place on the next suitable day.
