New Campaign Cracks Down On Illegal Parking In Handicap Spaces
The problem of people parking in handicapped spaces is exacerbated by the holiday shopping season, officials say.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — For those thinking of parking in handicap spaces, Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon has a message: "Don't."
Toulon's office is kicking off enhanced enforcement aimed at illegal parking in handicap spaces throughout Suffolk County, effective immediately and through New Year’s Day.
“The purpose of this enforcement is to act as a deterrent to the illegal use of handicap parking spots, which creates a particular hardship, especially during the holiday season, for the citizens of Suffolk County who actually have need of such spaces,” Toulon said.
