CALVERTON, NY — Voters on Long Island will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots for state and federal offices in New York's primary election. That includes the 1st Congressional District, where Republican U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin will defend his seat against challengers and Democrats Gregory-John Fischer, Bridget Fleming, Perry Gershon, and Nancy Goroff.

The election is slated for Tuesday, June 23. Under Gov. Andrew Cuomo's order, all registered voters in the state must receive a mail-in ballot application to apply for a postage-paid absentee ballot amid the coronavirus. All ballots postmarked by June 23 will be counted.

Gregory-John Fischer, a businessman, has run for public office in the past; he ran for the New York State Senate against incumbent Ken LaValle in 2018.

Why are you seeking elective office?

To fix the really broken New York and United States economy.

The single most pressing issue facing our nation/state/community is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The worldwide virus-caused emergency and its cascading and increasing economic impacts.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My opponents have no practical economics experience and I have been working with medical researchers around the world to solve the worldwide virus-caused emergency — complete with a growing library of my interviews with those experts.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?

This is a new era. The November 2020 "flu season," COVID-19 2nd wave takes out the United States mercantile middle-class and that has cascading effect throughout the rest of the middle class — the working poor then drop further into poverty and proceed to long-term perpetual two-class economy and economic-based insurrection. My tactic is to take the fire out of the coming meltdown.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

On health:

The only federal candidate in America with an affordable and viable COVID-19 2nd-wave avoidance plan, a thus far 100 percent successful system for acute COVID-19 infection prevention (documents on request).

The only federal candidate in America forwarding a successful COVID-19 critical care — ER/ICU — protocol (survival for those that did not get the prevention information — created with the help of doctors and researchers).

The only federal candidate in America with an affordable and viable COVID-19 physical injury and child injury rehabilitation plan (for the children of parents who did not get the prevention documents) sufficient to repair the COVID survival cases where there were injuries (approaching 50 percent of survivors). Created with the help of doctors and engineers. A proposal for one of the largest employment projects in U.S. History —new-age and "New Deal" like.

On economics:

The only federal candidate in America with a viable post-COVID-19 economic recovery plan — a U.S. economic development plan actually formulated and published in January, 2020 — before COVID-19 hit US shores — Consumption Adjusting Prosperity Economics ("CAPE").

CAPE corrects worldwide pollution problems.
CAPE addresses unfair labor worldwide.
CAPE addresses intellectual property protection worldwide.
CAPE provides a worldwide "peace dividend" by reducing worldwide military spending..

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

In my organizational turnaround work, I have proven very skilled at crisis management,
contingency planning and other creative “human centered” solutions.

I am a consultant to the U.S. Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), U.S. Department of Commerce with an exceptional local record in business turnarounds and startups. I have 35 years of experience in management, financial and economic strategy. I started my career working in mega-organizations like Price Waterhouse and Peat Marwick before launching my own companies. I am also multi-degreed in management, finance and economics

The best advice ever shared with me was:

From my father: "Kid, politics is based on slander, why do you want to waste your time?"
(Obviously I ignored his advice — but maybe he was correct.)

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

We have especially stressed finances, social policy, and health policy for a broad section of our population. We do not just have “financial pain”, as is in the question; in real numbers, when all numbers are considered, we have a choice between government insolvency, or sharp tax increases, or a turnaround. I do turnaround.

I am committed to a return to normalcy.

In my work I help people in their personal economics. Since COVID-19 I expanded my daily commitment to include community health.

You can download a prevention protocol from GregFischerDAO.com under the COVID pulldown.

I can send a seven-section critical care cit to anyone who wants it. Designed for hospital
ERs/ICUs, nursing homes and other providers mainly — it contains acute care triage and
treatment information. It contains ground-breaking lifesaving leading edge front line
critical care information which includes input from doctors around the world.
