Paddle Battle returns to Riverhead

Paddle Battle kayak, the kayak, canoe and stand up paddle board race to save the sea turtles is back!

The Long Island Aquarium, is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the 2020 Paddle Battle LI Event on Saturday, July 25th along the Peconic River in Riverhead, NY.

It’s a race to save the Sea Turtles! This family friendly event includes a 2.5-mile amateur race and a 5-mile competitive race course. First place medals will be offered to winners in each category, for each class and distance. We will also have a Casual Paddle for the not so competitive paddler, this is not a race it’s just a great way for family and friends to get together and paddle casually on the beautiful Peconic River!

There is also a great opportunity for companies, organizations and unions to participate in the “Paddle Battle Team Challenge.” This 2.5 mile stand up paddle board and kayak race designed for teams of four competitors to compete against one another for the Team Challenge trophy. The team with the overall best combined time will take home the championship trophy along with the bragging rights of winning the 2020 “Paddle Battle Team Challenge.”

All proceeds will go directly to the NY Marine Rescue Center, a not-for-profit 501c3 to help them save the Sea Turtles!

Registration starts at 7:30am on the Peconic Waterfront – Entry fees are $65.00/pp before race day or $80.00 on the event day. Rental canoes and kayaks are available for $30.00. Life vests are required; all participants must wear their own PFD (personal floatation device) during the race. Team Challenge Registration starts at 9am on the Peconic Waterfront, race to begin at 11am. Team challenge sponsorship entry fee is $1000.00 per team and must be submitted by July 20, 2020.
