Parrish to Host Art and Design Symposium
A conversation on art and fashion with Calvin Klein and Ross Bleckner, moderated by Edward Nardoza on Sunday, August 24 4-6 p.m.

The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill has launched “By Design: Innovators in Art and Fashion in Conversation,” a new symposium series focusing on the relationship between visual art and design. The series kicks off this Sunday, August 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a panel discussion featuring Edward Nardoza, Ross Bleckner and Calvin Klein.

Edward Nardoza, the Editor-in-Chief of Women’s Wear Daily, will moderate a conversation with Parrish Permanent Collection artist Ross Bleckner and Southampton resident and internationally acclaimed fashion designer Calvin Klein. Cocktails will be served on the terrace following the program.
Ross Bleckner, who has taught at many of the nation’s most prestigious universities, received a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1971 and a Master of Fine Arts from Cal Arts in 1973. His work is featured in the permanent collections of numerous museums including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

Calvin Klein is recognized globally as a master of minimalism and has spent his career distilling things to their very essence. He is an award-winning fashion icon and marketing pioneer who launched his first Collection in 1968, going on to revolutionize the designer denim and underwear businesses. Calvin Klein designs with a clear and consistent philosophy about modernism, simplicity and an American point of view.
Edward Nardoza has been Editor in Chief of Women’s Wear Daily since 1991. He joined Fairchild in 1978 as a general assignment reporter after receiving a BA in English from the University of Maryland.
The event costs $150 for members and $200 for general admission. All proceeds will support the museum’s year-round initiatives. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 283-2118 x 150 or by emailing benefitevents@parrishart.org.
