Partner At Iconic Boardy Barn Battling Health Issues, Pandemic
2020 marks the Boardy Barn's 50th anniversary but in pandemic, "the music didn't play." And now a beloved partner is battling health issues.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — The community is coming together in a big way to help a beloved partner in the iconic Boardy Barn who is battling health issues and the impacts of the pandemic.
A GoFund Me, "Tony Galgano, Partner At The Boardy Barn, Needs Us," was created by Tom Cannuscio of Hampton Bays.
"Anthony ‘Tony’ Galgano Jr., partner at The Boardy Barn in Hampton Bays, needs our help today," Cannuscio wrote. "His ever-present optimism does not reflect the health and business challenges he is facing. We are sharing more about Tony's situation here so that you have the opportunity to support the kind man who has found true happiness through serving and supporting others. What Tony's bright, beaming smile won't reveal: Health concerns."

Galgano, Cannuscio said, "has had health issues for some time and is currently participating in a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering. The treatment is showing some positive results; however, the trips to New York City are physically grueling and costly."
However, Cannuscio said Galgano "genuinely loves" the doctors, nurses, and volunteers providing care.

Galgano, he said, is also facing business challenges. "April, 2020 marked the Boardy Barn's 50th anniversary. Thousands of us looked forward to celebrating this milestone, but this year 'the music wouldn't play.' The Boardy Barn did not open this summer, and this has been both emotionally and financially overwhelming," Cannuscio said.
Those who want to help, he said, can provide financial support to help ease the burden for Galgano; share the GoFundMe fundraiser to garner the most support possible; or leave a kind note describing some favorite memories of Galgano, Cannuscio said.
"Over the years, Tony has supported so many members of the community through fundraisers and direct financial support," Cannuscio said. "He has never asked for anything in return. It would be more than amazing to see the community come together to support Tony when he needs it the most. Donations will be used to cover expenses during this challenging time. And in Tony-speak: 'Thank you kindly and keep a good thought!'"
