PHOTOS: Fourth of July Fireworks Draw Thousands Downtown

The Thursday night fireworks show was sponsored by the Business Improvement District.

Downtown Riverhead was packed with patriotic spirit Thursday night, as thousands filled the area for the Fourth of July fireworks, sponsored by the Riverhead Business Improvement District.

The fireworks, called "the best on the East End" by BID member John Mantzopoulos, kicked off around 9:10 p.m. and lasted between 15 and 20 minutes. Councilman John Dunleavy estimated that close to 5,000 attended, as Brady Rymer and The Little Band That Could kicked off the show starting at 6:30 with a live performance by the Peconic River.
