Riverhead Coaches Reach Their 100th Career Win

Four coaches at Riverhead High School marked their 100th career win together last Saturday, Sept. 20.

Last Saturday’s win over Smithtown East marked the 100th career win of coaches Leif Shay, Steve Gevinski, Scott Hackal and Bill Hedges, together as a coaching staff.

In the last five years, the Blue Waves have ended the season as Suffolk County Division II Champs twice (2013 and 2014) and won the Long Island Championship in 2009.

“Led by Head Coach Leif Shay, the Varsity football staff has a demonstrated commitment to excellence, integrity, and heartfelt desire to be the best,” states RCSD Athletic Director Bill Groth.
