Riverhead Man Had Loaded Handgun, Drug Paraphernalia In Car: PD
He was in a car in a Riverhead parking lot on East Main Street with a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia Friday morning, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged after he was found with a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia in a parking lot Friday morning, police said.
According to Riverhead Police, the incident took place at 9:32 a.m. when a call came in about a person in a vehicle possibly needing assistance on East Main Street in Riverhead.
Officers found a vehicle matching the description in a parking lot; patrol officers saw numerous articles of drug paraphernalia in plain view, police said. A loaded handgun, reported stolen out of Florida, was also found, police said.

Zachary Marini, 29, of Riverhead, was arrested, taken to Riverhead Police headquarters for processing, and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.
Marini suffered a medical condition at police headquarters and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, police said. Marini remains in police custody awaiting arraignment at Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said.
