Riverhead’s Peconic Pediatrics Dr. to be Recognized by LICC
Long Island Children's Choir to honor Dr. Jennifer Shaer of Riverhead's Peconic Pediatrics & Melville's Allied Physicians Group.

Riverhead, NY/Melville, NY; February 26, 2019 – The Long Island Children’s Choir (LICC) will honor Dr. Jennifer Shaer, a doctor at Riverhead-based Peconic Pediatrics and also of Melville-headquartered Allied Physicians Group, for her dedication and commitment to children and her longtime support of LICC as well as The Choir for a Cause, an initiative that encourages a sense of philanthropy in young artists. The recognition will take place at the 4th Annual “Cocktails for a Cause” benefit to be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Crest Hollow Country Club. The event will feature dinner and a special performance by LICC’s acapella ensemble which is led this year by two of LICC’s senior students.
“I have dedicated my life and career to making an impact in the lives of children and families. The LICC is an organization that allows young people to express themselves through music and gain confidence. I encourage everyone to join us at the Cocktails for a Cause benefit to hear our new acapella group live and some recorded awe-inspiring Choir performances from throughout the years,” said Dr. Shaer.
Jennifer Shaer and Roger Lao, co-founders of LICC, were among the parents disappointed in the decline in budget allocations to maintain the local elementary school music programs. Their determination to find a solution to this problem ultimately led to the establishment of LICC and The Choir for a Cause. The purpose of LICC is to supplement school music programs and not replace them.

“Since the founding of LICC, hundreds of children have been introduced to the gift of music and song. It is inspiring to see these young people performing and building their personal confidence,” Dr. Shaer added.
The Choir for a Cause instills a sense of philanthropy in each of the young artists when they sing for and with other non-profit organizations whose missions have meaning for LICC students. This is accomplished through special performances or as part of the LICC Partner Grant Program. This year’s partner charity has special meaning to Dr. Shaer. LICC has dedicated its season to stocking food pantries with food and diapers. The students collect diapers for the Allied Foundation Diaper Bank and food for Island Harvest. Both organizations will be at the Cocktails for a Cause event.
