Southampton Town Historian Sheds Light On Pleasure Woods Cemetery
Julie Greene Updates Local Residents About the Work Accomplished by the Historic Burying Ground Committee
Southampton Town Historian Julie Greene will be the guest speaker at a general meeting of the Flanders Village Historical Society on Thursday, September 26, 6:30-8:30 PM. This meeting of the group will held at the David W. Crohan Community Center, 655 Flanders Road (Route 24), Flanders.
Julie Greene will give an update on the work of the Historic Burying Ground Committee, which has been restoring the Pleasure Woods Cemetery on Golden Leaf Trail in Flanders. This cemetery has been identified in the Flanders Hamlet Heritage Area Resource Report as a Southampton Town historic resource.
Members of the public who support historic preservation are invited to attend the meeting. The evening’s agenda will also include updates about the historic society’s current projects to document and preserve local history.

The Flanders Village Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) organization chartered by the Board of Regents for the Education Department of the State of New York “to encourage, promote and disseminate an understanding and appreciation among the public… of the historical and cultural heritage of the hamlet of Flanders and surrounding area, in the town of Southampton.”
