SPTF 12th Annual Piano Competition

Gilda DelBianco Ties First Place

Congratulations to first place winner, Gilda DelBianco! She tied with Atom Tamamoto in the late advanced division at the Suffolk Piano Teachers Foundation's 12th Annual Piano Competition on March 25 and 26, 2017. Gilda is a ninth grader at Bishop McGann Mercy High School of Riverhead. Students competed for cash prizes, medals, and a chance to perform on a renowned concert stage and registered to compete in the five-leveled divisions at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Melville, located at 505 Walt Witman Road in Melville, New York. SPTF wishes to honor Barry Tognolini and thank Steinway Gallery of Long Island for their generous cash award donation for first place winners. All performers were provided with written feedback from adjudicators.

On Thursday, June 1, 2017, first, second, and third place winners will receive their medals at a special Awards Ceremony held in-between two Honors Recitals at Stony Brook University's Staller Center Recital Hall at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Gilda, as a first place winner, will receive her cash prize and play her winning piece, "Sonata No.8 in C minor, Op.13, Mvt. 1" by L. van Beethoven, at this event, among performances of other honored students throughout Long Island. The event is free and open to the public.
