Tornado Warning Issued For Parts Of Suffolk County
Residents are urged to take cover and watch out for flying debris.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A tornado warning has been issued for west central Suffolk County until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
At 9:28 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Ronkonkoma, moving east at 50 mph, and was expected to pass through Medford and Coram at 9:35 p.m., Middle Island and Yaphank at 9:40 p.m., Brookhaven National Laboratory at 9:40 p.m. and reach Wading River by 9:55 p.m.
"Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely," the National Weather Service said.

"Take cover now!" the NWS said. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris."
