LONG ISLAND, NY — We saw barely any snow all winter so of course we may get some snowflakes in May. With Long Islanders cooped up inside and longing for any chance to soak up some sun, on Saturday we get what will certainly go down as one of the worst weather days in May history.

Temperatures will fall into the 30s overnight and there's a chance of snow around 4 a.m.-5 a.m., the National Weather Service says. No snow accumulation is expected on the island. Parts of the Hudson Valley, though, have a decent chance of getting more than an inch of snow on the ninth day of May.

Things dry up by sunrise Saturday, but gusty winds will keep wind chill temperatures below the freezing mark for much of the morning. There's a slight chance of rain Saturday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will top out in the high 40s, about 20 degrees lower than normal for this time of year. Sigh.
