Annual Terry Ryan Memorial Run Takes Place Sunday in Hastings; Benefit Scheduled White Plains Woman Hit by Train Saturday

  • Captain Lawrence Brewery, located 444 Saw Mill River Rd. Elmsford, is hosting the first annual “Brew Rendezvous” fundraiser for Victims Assistance Services today from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost for the event is $25, which includes one draft beer and a sausage from The Village Dog.   • Corx Wine & Liquors in White Plains is hosting its “Raise a Glass for the Holidays!” fundraising event for Child Abuse Prevention Center of New York on Saturday, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some of Corx’s  favorite wine representatives will be pouring over thirty delicious wines and spirits from all over the world for people to sample and enjoy, creating perfect pairings for your Holiday celebrations. All guests will sample  delicious food from our newest neighbor, Lombardo’s Pizza Bar & Restaurant.  Admission to the tasting is free. Corx is located at 1205 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains.
  • The Really Terrible Orchestra of Westchester will hold a benefit concert for Maya Leggat, the White Plains woman who was pushed in front of an oncoming Metro North train in September, at 3 p.m. Saturday inside the Yonkers Public Library’s Grinton I. Will branch, located 1500 Central Ave.  Leggat, a violinist with the orchestra, sustained traumatic injuries and faces a long recovery.
  • On Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Outreach and Archbishop Stepinac High School are co-sponsoring a drive to benefit The Furniture Sharehouse, which collects gently-used furniture for redistribution free-of-charge to families in need. The Drive will be at the high school, located at 950 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains, rain or shine. Only basic home furniture & small appliance in good condition will be accepted.   • The 12th Annual Terry Ryan Memorial Run takes place Sunday at Hastings-on-Hudson. The one mile ‘Fun Run’ starts at  12:30 p.m., while the 5K and 10K runs begin at 1:30 p.m.  The races start and finish at Hastings High School’s Cochrane Gym entrance, on School St. Check-in begins at noon at Cochrane Gym. The fees for the 5K and 10K runs are  $15 prior to Nov. 10. The fee for the ‘Fun Run’ is  $5.
