Arrest Made In Fatal Hit-And-Run
Police said a pedestrian later died of injuries sustained in the accident.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — Police made an arrest Tuesday in a hit-and-run accident from last month. The Dobbs Ferry police said Johnny David Machado, 26, of Hastings-on-Hudson, was charged with one count of vehicle and traffic law 600-2A, a felony, which concerns leaving the scene of an accident where there's been an injury.
Police said, around 9:25 p.m. Sept. 20, they received a report of a hit-and-run that happened at the intersection of Broadway (Route 9) and Maple Street in Dobbs Ferry.
Rocco DePaolo, 91, of Dobbs Ferry, was struck while crossing Broadway while he was in a crosswalk by a dark-colored vehicle which left the area in a southerly direction.

The man who was hit was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corps where he later died of his injuries.
Police began an investigation into the incident and Machado was identified as a suspect shortly thereafter.

He was arraigned in the Village of Dobbs Ferry Justice Court and released on his own recognizance to his family.
Machado is due back in court Oct. 10.
