Bond-Related Signs Continue to go Missing in Hastings

The Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department continues to receive reports of missing signs residents have displayed around the village with tomorrow's school bond vote approaching.

For the past several weeks, locals have said their "Vote Yes" and "Vote No" signs have been stolen.

Among some of the recent reports:

• A 2:15 a.m. caller on October 18 told police four bond-related signs were stolen from the traffic circle on Hillside Avenue near Rosedale.
• A Villard Avenue resident called police on October 18 and told police a "Vote No" sign was stolen from her front yard sometime overnight.
• Three "Vote No" signs were reported stolen in the Darwin Avenue area the afternoon of October 18.
• A caller told police at 11:56 a.m. on October 17 that he observed youths removing "Vote No" signs from Reynolds Field, and the adjacent street corners, and dumping them behind the A&P steps.
• A 2:14 p.m. caller on October 17 reporting seeing two people picking up "Vote No" signs and putting them in their car trunks.
• A man went into police headquarters at 3:35 p.m. on October 9 and reported witnessing "a bunch of kids" stealing bond vote signs on Rosedale Avenue. He told police he followed the vehicle the kids got into to an area near the High School, where the group got out and became confrontational. He provided a description of the alleged thieves to police.
• A Summit Street resident reported at 11 p.m. on October 8 that a "Save Reynolds Field" sign was stolen sometime in the past four hours from in front of her home.
• A Lefurgy Avenue resident reported a "Vote No" signed had been removed sometime the afternoon of October 9.
• A South Drive resident reported on October 12 that his "Keep Reynolds Field Green" sign, valued at $5, was stolen sometime overnight.
• Police received a report just before noon on October 12 from a resident who said numerous "Vote No" signs had been dumped. Police retrieved the approximately eight damaged signs.
• The following day, a "Vote No" sign was reported missing and found shortly later, damaged, on Prince Street. The sign's owner picked up the sign.
• A "Vote Yes" sign was reported destroyed by a patrol office on Southside Avenue.
• Two signs were reported damaged by Hillside Elementary School on the morning of October 13. Police retrieved the signs.
• On October 13 at 1:32 p.m., a Farragut Avenue resident reported his "Vote No" sign was taken from his yard sometime overnight.
