'Cannonball' Brought To Irvington PD

The county's Hazardous Devices Unit was called to the scene.

IRVINGTON, NY — Irvington police had to deal with a possibly explosive situation Sunday afternoon when someone brought what appeared to be an old cannonball to police headquarters. Police said the person had dug it up and decided to bring it to the police.

The object was placed outside and the surrounding area was cordoned off, police said.

Irvington Town Hall was evacuated and the Westchester County Police Hazardous Devices Unit was requested.

They determined that the object was ornamental and nonexplosive and it was removed, police said.
