ESPN's John Saunders, of Hastings-on-Hudson, Dies at 61

Saunders hosted "The Sports Reporters" on the cable network.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — John Saunders, host of “The Sports Reporters” on ESPN, died at the age of 61.

The network made the announcement of the passing of the Hastings-on-Hudson resident on Wednesday, but provided no further details as to when and where he died, according to the New York Times.

Saunders’ family issued a statement saying they were touched by the outpouring of sadness and support, ESPN.com said.

The sportscaster took over as host of “The Sports Reporters” in 2001 after Dick Schapp died, an Associated Press article published at lohud.com said.
