Fudgie The Beer Coming Back For Limited Time

Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford will be taking pre-orders for delivery in August.

ELMSFORD, NY — Have you run out of your supply of Fudgie the Beer? Yes, we said beer not whale. Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford is re-releasing the limited edition stout in honor of National Ice Cream Day, which is Sunday, July 15.

On that day, at 9 a.m. through Aug. 5, the beer, which is a collaboration between the brewery and the ice cream maker Carvel, can be ordered online at fudgiethebeer.com. It will be available for pickup Friday, August 10, according to the brewery’s website, during Beer Hall hour from Aug. 10 to Aug. 19.

The cost for the beer is $18 per four-pack.

The beer style is a stout, with 6 percent alcohol by volume.

It would pair well with roasted or smoked foods as well as chocolate or espresso desserts, the brewery said.

Carvel’s first store was in Hartsdale in Westchester County.

Fudgie the Whale — the iconic ice cream cake — was introduced in 1977 when Carvel wanted to create a fish-shaped ice cream cake for Father's Day.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Company is located at 444 Saw Mill River Rd. in Elmsford.
