GREENBURGH, NY — Taxpayers in the Town of Greenburgh can expect no tax rate increase if the proposed 2020 operating budget goes into effect. Supervisor Paul Feiner said he filed the proposed budget with the town clerk, and the town board will schedule public hearings in November and December.

The board must approve or modify the budget by Dec. 20.

In an email, Feiner said the town has always complied with the tax cap, and taxpayers will receive a property tax refund check from the state because the town is in compliance.

He said the reasons for a zero percent tax hike include the state legislature approving the county's sales tax increase.

"The town anticipates receiving approximately $3.2 million for 2019-20, approximately $1 million of which will be realized as revenue for 2019," Feiner said.

The proposed operating budget should be available online at some point Wednesday, and the proposed capital budget for 2020 will be released by the second week in November, he said.

Feiner said that for the villages and unincorporated Greenburgh the total appropriations will be $34.3 million. A taxpayer who paid $236.74 in 2019 will pay approximately the same in 2020.

The total appropriations for unincorporated Greenburgh only are $88.3 million. A taxpayer who paid $3,166.07 in 2019 will pay approximately the same in 2020.
