Hastings Hires Former Town Supervisor As Village Manager
The new manager currently works for the county.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson appointed a former Somers town supervisor as their new village manager. Effective July 22, Mary Beth Murphy will replace Francis Frobel, who is retiring from the position after serving more than 40 years as a professional public manager.
Murphy will be responsible for the daily operations of the village and its departments, including oversight of 62 full-time and 34 part-time employees.
She was selected after an exhaustive search in which the village board reviewed resumes from more than 30 candidates and interviewed nine highly qualified and experienced professionals.

Murphy comes to Hastings-on-Hudson from the Westchester County Tax Commission where she has served as executive director since 2014.
Prior to that, she was the Somers town supervisor from 1998 to 2013, serving as the CEO and CFO of the 33-square mile town with about 20,000 residents, 100 full-time employees and 9,000 parcels.

Murphy is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and Syracuse University.
Hastings Mayor Nicola Armacost called Murphy "a true trail blazer — the first female supervisor of Somers and the first female village manager of Hastings-on-Hudson.
"We were looking for a manager with the ability to navigate the thorny issues we expect to face in rezoning and developing the waterfront," Armacost said. "At the same time we wanted someone who can run an efficient and effective municipality, and ensure that the bread and butter concerns of our citizens are addressed."
Frobel was village manager of Hastings-on-Hudson for 14 years.
