Man Indicted In Death Of Pedestrian

A grand jury was convened in the case and brought back five charges.

ELMSFORD, NY — A Westchester man will face charges in the death of a pedestrian in White Plains. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Tuesday that Glen Robinson, 26, of Elmsford, was indicted by a grand jury.

Robinson was accused of striking and killing Susan Benjamin-Bailey with his car in front of the Westchester County Center in August.

He was arraigned Tuesday on the following charges:

  • Two counts of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony
  • Criminally negligent homicide, a felony
  • Two counts of driving while intoxicated a misdemeanor

Prosecutors said, just after 6:30 a.m. Aug. 24, Robinson was driving while drunk in White Plains.

At the intersection of Tarrytown Road and Central Avenue, he drove his Chevrolet Cruze into Benjamin-Bailey, 57, of the Bronx, who was crossing the roadway by the County Center on her way to work.

Robinson then drove into the brick structure that housed the clock tower, completely damaging both the structure and the clock.

Benjamin-Bailey was taken to White Plains Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Robinson is due back in court Jan. 7.
