Current Mayor Nicola Armacost posted a message about MacEachron on the village's website.
"Even though I didn't know her, she was an inspiration to me and to many other women in local politics as a pioneering female politician in an ear when it was relatively uncommon for women to have leadership roles in municipal government," she said.
"Fran, from all of us in the place you called home for many years, may you rest in peace," Armacost said.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Temple Beth Shalom, 740 N. Broadway in Hastings-on-Hudson.
