Plea In 2018 Fatal Stabbing Of Restaurant Worker

The woman had only been working at the restaurant for a few days when she stabbed the prep cook, police said.

IRVINGTON, NY — A New York City woman admitted to fatally stabbing a co-worker in an Irvington restaurant. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Friday that Rosa Ramirez, 29, of New York, pleased guilty to second-degree murder, a felony.

She is due back April 24 for sentencing. Prosecutors promised her 17 years to life in state prison.

Police said, on April 10, 2018, Ramirez was in the River City Grille on Broadway in Irvington.

She was in the restaurant's kitchen working as a dishwasher along with other kitchen staff.

Just after 11 a.m., prosecutors said Ramirez attacked prep cook Bonifacio Rodriquez, 38, of Yonkers, with a kitchen knife.

He tried to protect himself but was stabbed multiple times.

Another employee tried to intervene but was also threatened but not injured.

Irvington police responded and Rodriquez was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Ramirez had only worked at the restaurant for a few days. She was apprehended shortly thereafter in the vicinity of the restaurant.
