Protests At Post Offices Set For Saturday In Hudson Valley
All participants will be expected to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Protests have been set across the Hudson Valley to show support for the U.S. Postal Service. "Save the Post Office Saturday" Day of Action demonstrations will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, according to Save The Post Office.
Organizers for the protest in Poughkeepsie said that it was unacceptable that the current administration is trying to "destroy the United States Postal Services (USPS) and make it impossible for voters to vote by mail during a pandemic — slowing down Social Security checks and medications for seniors and veterans in the process.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, the minority leader, said Thursday he had questions for Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who was picked by President Donald Trump to take over as the head of the postal service.

In a letter sent to DeJoy, Schumer said the cutbacks in mail delivery have eroded public trust and wants to know what changes to the service will be paused between now and Election Day, whether the postal service will treat all election mail as First Class and whether the postal service will replace mail processing equipment and blue collection boxes removed in some locations across the country.
Protests scheduled around the Hudson Valley include:
