PTSA Pumpkin Fair at Springhurst Elementary School, Local Capoeira Workshops Scheduled and Fall Home Show Comes to the County Center

  • Professor Cabeção and his students in Westchester County, NY invites all capoeiristas, their friends and fans to the second annual Batizado & Troca de Cordões ceremony. On Thursday, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 pm, there will be a surprise class at the Reformed Church of Tarrytown, located at 42 North Broadway in Tarrytown. On Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. , there will workshops for kids and adults at the White Plains Presbyterian Church, located at 39 North Broadway in White Plains. On Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., there will be workshops, open rodas, and performances by Batizado & Troca de Cordoes at The Performing Arts Center, located at 735 Anderson Hill Road in Purchase.   • The PTSA at Springhurst Elementary School, located at Walgrove Ave. in Dobbs Ferry is hosting its annual Pumpkin Fair Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be live music, horse drawn hay rides and pumpkin decorating.
  • Jenks Productions is hosting its annual Fall Home Show Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 150 companies will have displays at the show for services ranging from home building to solar energy installation.Event tickets cost $8 for adults, $7 seniors and are free for children 12 and under.   • Central Animal Hospital, located at 317 Ardsley Road in Scarsdale, is hosting Howl-O-Ween on Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will feature a pet costume contest, professional pet photos, a kids table, face painting, games and raffles. Light refreshments will be provided. All proceeds will be donated to the Pet Adoption League, New Rochelle Humane Society and Cat Assistance NY.   • Mark Russ Federman will speak about his newest book, Russ & Daughters:  Reflections and Recipes from the House that Herring Built at the Greenburgh Hebrew Center in Dobbs Ferry on Sunday  at 10:00 am.  This program, sponsored by Sisterhood GHC, is open to all and is free of charge. Books will be available for sale and signing. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be made online at www.g-h-c.org/brunch.
