Queens Man, Asleep In Running Car, Accused Of Drunken Driving

Police said he had almost pulled off the Thruway in Ardsley.

ARDSLEY, NY — A Queens man was accused of drunken driving after he was found asleep in a car with its engine running.

The New York State Police said, around 1 a.m. Saturday, troopers saw a car stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 87, partially in the right lane, in the village of Ardsley.

Police said the vehicle's ignition was on and all the occupants were asleep inside.

The driver was awakened and told to get out of the car, police said.

Segundo I. Lemache Lluilema, 33, of Corona, locked the doors and tried several times to put the car in gear to leave the scene.

Police were able to unlock the doors, and Lemache Lluilema was found to be intoxicated and had a suspended license.

He was taken into custody and was processed at the Tarrytown barracks, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.12 percent.

Lemache Lluilema was charged with driving while intoxicated and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, misdemeanors.

He was released to a sober third party and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Ardsley Court Feb. 15.
