Slight Warmup, Rain: Dobbs Ferry's Weekend Weather

DOBBS FERRY, NY — After a couple of days of record-breaking temperatures, the Hudson Valley will be warming up — slightly — for the weekend. The high Saturday for the lower Hudson Valley is forecast to be in the mid- to upper 40s, with the more northern locations in the low 40s.

And we are in for some precipitation as well, falling in the form of rain since temperatures are forecast to be above freezing even at night.

About the recent cold snap, though, Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said that records were broken, making this the second coldest November air mass on record in the Hudson Valley.

In Poughkeepsie, the record low of 6 degrees Friday morning broke a 1989 record of 9 degrees.

Thanksgiving Day's "high" temperature of 27 tied that of Thanksgiving Day in 1989.

Here is the forecast through the weekend from the National Weather Service for southern Westchester:

• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 28. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. South wind 5 to 7 mph.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 28 by 11pm. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Saturday: Rain likely after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. Calm wind becoming east 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Saturday Night: Rain. Low around 42. East wind 5 to 14 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
• Sunday: A 20 percent chance of rain before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph.
• Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
