Transfiguration Takes Top Honors in Archdiocesan Media Awards
Hudson Valley Regional Catholic School Presented with Gold and Silver Awards
Two eighth grade student groups at The Transfiguration School in Tarrytown received top honors in this year’s Archdiocesan Media Awards (The “Archies”), for their work producing original videos in response to the question – How has your school responded to COVID-19 as a community of faith?
The gold award-winning team is composed of students Will Anello, Quinn Mueller, and Conor Slattery; the silver award-winning team consists of Esaias Gonzalez, Tucker Romagnoli, and Michael Barros. Transfiguration School’s middle-school English Language Arts Teacher, Ms. Amanda Vasta, served as moderator for the class.
The Archdiocesan Media Awards program is a multimedia journalism challenge that encourages students from Catholic schools throughout the archdiocese to produce 60 to 90 second, “packages” that tell a story just as it is done by reporters and editors around the world. For the second consecutive year, the awards ceremony was held “virtually” and broadcast by the Catholic Faith Network and hosted by Lonnie Quinn, lead weather anchor on WCBS-TV in New York City. The awards presentation also included special presentations by Msgr. James Vlaun from the Catholic Faith Network and Superintendent of New York Archdiocesan Schools, Mr. Michael J. Deegan.
