Trying For Land Rover, Arrested In BMW X5
The forged document and the suspended license apparently affected the jury.
IRVINGTON, NY — A man trying to convince Irvington police officers to let him take a 2011 Land Rover from the impound lot produced a forged document to pretend a lien had been paid. Unsuccessful at convincing the officers on duty to let him have the Land Rover, he left, driving away in a 2012 BMW X5.
He didn't get far, because the officers had, during the impound discussion, noted — and reminded him — that his driver's license was suspended.
The incident happened in 2016. On Tuesday, Ian Davis, 32, was found guilty on two counts following a week-long jury trial before Westchester County Court Judge David Zuckerman.

The jury found the Mount Vernon resident guilty of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a class D felony, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, an unclassified misdemeanor.
Davis is scheduled for sentencing Jan. 8, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced.
