Warning Issued: Dangerous Weather in Northern Westchester

The National Weather Service upgrades from a 'watch' status; temps will fall faster in Dobbs Ferry, Irvington and Hastings-on-Hudson.

The National Weather Service has upgraded its special weather notice to a Wind Chill Warning for Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties:

The Warning also encompasses an earlier start, at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Because temperatures could reach 10 degrees below zero, with northwest winds of 10-20 mph, the wind chill factor could go as low as 30 below, the NWS says. The combination has the potential to result in frostbite and hypothermia in living things and frozen pipes in people’s homes.
