Where to Hunt for Easter Eggs in the Rivertowns

The river villages of Dobbs Ferry and Hastings-on-Hudson will each hold their annual egg hunts this weekend. Though egg hunts are generally associated with Easter, you don’t have to celebrate the holiday to join in on the fun.

According to the Huffington Post—for many cultures the egg is a symbol of new life, rebirth and fertility. Iranians decorate eggs on their New Year, which falls on the spring equinox, while some say it is a Pagan symbol for the rebirth of the earth. • Hastings Eggstravaganza - The Hastings-on-Hudson Recreation Department and Hastings-on-Hudson Police Benevolent Association will hold its Eggstravaganza event on Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Field on Chauncey Lane. The event is for children aged 2-8-years-old. Children will search for hidden plastic eggs filled with candy, while younger children under 2 will receive a bag of goodies. Light refreshments will be served. The Easter Bunny will also be on-hand for photos. Please bring your own bag or baskets. The event is free to all Hastings-on-Hudson residents.  All children must be accompanied by an adult. Click here to register for the event. • Spring Egg Hunt – Dobbs Ferry children will get the chance to hunt for eggs with their neighbors at 10 a.m. at Gould Park, 90 Ashford Ave. Please bring your own basket.
