Crime Watch: Homeless Man Arrested for Drug Possession

Arrests
On June 5 at 12:54 a.m., David Terry Jr., 26, of Hempstead, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and speeding following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of N. Centre Avenue and Lakeview Avenue in Rockville Centre.

On June 5 at 3:05 a.m., Vincenzo Peter Gavrity, 20, of Staten Island, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree and vehicle and traffic law violations following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Front Street and N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre.
On June 7 at 1:07 a.m., Valerie D. Pettway, 51, of Rockville Centre, was arrested for menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree following an investigation by police personnel at her N. Centre Avenue residence.

On June 10 at 2:08 a.m., Alberto Benavides, 59, reportedly homeless, was arrested for criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree and unlawful possession of marijuana following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Morris Avenue and Cedar Avenue in Rockville Centre.
Robbery (attempt)
On June 9 at 3:04 a.m., a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that at approximately 2:40 a.m., an unknown male punched him in the right eye and attempted to forcibly take a wallet from his pants rear pocket while in the vicinity of Dogwood Lane and Hempstead Avenue in Rockville Centre. The unknown male was reportedly last observed fleeing on foot northbound on Hempstead Avenue with no proceeds.
Assault
- On June 4 at 8:43 p.m., a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that a male acquaintance punched him on the left side of the face while in the vicinity of N. Forest Avenue and Maple Avenue in Rockville Centre resulting in injuries requiring medical attention at South Nassau Communities Hospital.
