Dirt Bike Rider Seriously Hurt In Crash With Minivan

The dirt bike driver was hospitalized with severe injuries, Nassau police said.

BALDWIN, NY — A dirt bike rider was seriously injured when he crashed into a minivan on Grand Avenue in Baldwin, police said.

The 24-year-old male driver of the dirt bike was taken to a nearby hospital with severe trauma. It happened at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The driver of the 2011 Toyota minivan, the only person in the vehicle, was not hurt, according to police.

Witnesses said the biker was riding at a high rate of speed and was doing a "wheelie" when he collided with the other vehicle, detectives said.

Police are investigating the crash.
