Green Cactus to Give Proceeds to Military Veterans Charity

Green Cactus Grill, which has a location in Rockville Centre, will donate its net proceeds from business on Thursday to Building Homes for Heroes, which constructs or renovates houses for wounded military veterans in need.

“Since 2006, Building Homes for Heroes, which is headquartered In Valley Stream, has been at the forefront of making a significant difference in the lives of the severely wounded men and women of the military forces of the United States,” according to a press release. “These mortgage-free homes not only help to remove the family's financial burden, they help to restore the individual's freedom, and enable the veteran to lead a more independent and productive civilian life.”

Building Homes for Heroes anticipates building or modifying 30 homes this year throughout the country, and expects to announce another Long Island recipient in the near future.

In 2012, the organization renovated the Huntington home of USMC Captain James Byler, which cost about $250,000. Byler lost both legs while serving our country in Afghanistan.

Green Cactus Grill also contributed to that project.
