Oceanside Association of Girl Scouts holds "Cookie Rookie" Rally

Newest members of the Oceanside Association get a taste for the infamous Cookies and learn about valuable business skills.

On Saturday, January 27th, the Oceanside Association of Girl Scouts held a “Cookie Rookie” rally to kick off in-person sales of their infamous Girl Scout Cookies. The event was an introduction to the rules, goals, and basics of cookie sales. Through cookie sales, the Girl Scouts learn valuable skills such as goal setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics. The new Daisy Scouts were able to sample each flavor of this year’s Girl Scout cookies to better help them describe and sell each type to their customers. The rally was led by a group of Junior Girl Scouts from the Oceanside Association, Troop #2083, who led the tiny Scouts in reciting the Girl Scout Promise, cookie cheers, crafts, and a cookie banner parade complete with cookie costumes. The Junior Scouts then donned aprons and handed out free cookie samples to the rookies, along with a commemorative cookie badge and memento of the occasion. Who doesn’t love Girl Scout Cookies?
