Oceanside residents Danielle Marks Goodwin and Alyssa DeBaun Mancuso have taken the concept of eBay and brought it to a much more local scale.
The duo has created the Facebook group "Oceanside's Odds & Ends 2" so that residents from Oceanside and surrounding areas (Rockville Centre) can buy and sell "new or gently used items."
The attraction to a group like Goodwin and Mancuso's is the locality aspect. Rather than heading to the post office to mail out sold items, residents can choose a location for pick up/drop off.
The group has a number of tips and guidelines in place to keep sellers from abusing any privileges. It also allows independent businesses to post in an effort to help promote the local economy.
"We welcome independent businesses to post your information but request that you please limit your posting to every other week," the page reads.
Goodwin and Mancuso said that the page "is all for the greater good of buying and selling."
