Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook – 21st A.D.) recently held a “Valentines for Vet” card drive for local, Nassau County veterans this Valentine’s Day. Curran said children from over 20 elementary schools throughout the 21st Assembly District partnered with his office to make handmade Valentine’s Day cards to be distributed to veterans throughout the 21st Assembly District. East Rockaway VFW Post 3350 Commander Pete Vitulli said his Post was happy to receive and distribute the cards to other VFW Posts, American Legions, and veterans.

“The freedoms that we as a country enjoy are a direct result of the sacrifices made by our veteran men and women, and this is a wonderful way to show them our love for what they have done for their country is appreciated and remembered,” said Curran, who is a member of the Assembly Veterans’ Affairs committee and a constant advocate for veterans’ issues. “I want to say a tremendous thank you that goes out to all of our schools and children who participated in this card drive to make it possible, and to the Superintendents and teachers for assisting with the project. I know this is something that our veterans enjoy and will cherish.”
